Next tie 12-14 September 2014
Colombia's reward for defeating Dominican Republic is a trip to Canada, with a World Group place in 2015 up for grabs. The Colombians came out on top in the teams' most recent meeting in 2010 but, following Canada's run to the semifinals last year, they can assured of a much more challenging tie this time out.
Last tie 4-6 April 2014
Singles wins for Santiago Giraldo and Alejandro Falla, followed by a doubles success for Juan-Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah saw Colombia through against a spirited Dominican Republic team. Giraldo and Falla were both pushed to five sets by Jose Hernandez and Victor Estrella respectively, but the experienced Colombian doubles pair had no problems with a straight sets win which wrapped up the tie by the end of the second day of action.
Colombia has twice reached the Americas Zone Group Final, in 1974 and 1981. It played in the World Group play-offs for the first time in 2010. Colombia's Alvaro Betancur was involved in the joint-longest set of a Davis Cup singles rubber - 46 games - against Canada in 1976.
