Next tie 12-14 September 2014
The Czechs head to France in the World Group quarterfinals as they continue their bid for a third straight Davis Cup title. This will be the fifteenth meeting between the two teams, with the head-to-head record locked at seven wins apiece. Czech Republic won the nations' last meeting, which took place in Ostrava in 2009.
Last tie 4-6 April 2014
Despite the absence of Tomas Berdych, Czech Republic still eased to a 5-0 win against a Japanese team also bereft of key players. Radek Stepanek and Lukas Rosol each won a singles match before combining in the doubles to seal the victory and send the Czechs through to the semifinals.
Following their 2013 victory over Serbia, Czech Republic have now won the Davis Cup on three occasions. The first victory came in 1980, when they played as Czechoslovakia, with the second coming in 2012. They have also finished runners-up on two further occasions, in 1975 and 2009. Along with USA, they have appeared in the World Group in all but one year. Czech players represented Czechoslovakia until 1992, and then Czech/Slovak Republics in 1993.
