Great Britain will travel to USA to play its first World Group encounter since 2008. The two nations contested the first-ever Davis Cup tie in 1900 and have met 18 times in total with USA leading the head-to-head 11-7.

Great Britain earned its place in the Davis Cup top tier by defeating Croatia 4-1 in Umag. Andy Murray returned to the fold and contributed to all three points, partnering Colin Fleming in the doubles and clinching the tie against Ivan Dodig in the reverse singles.
Great Britain has lifted the Davis Cup trophy on nine occasions. Its last title dates back to 1936 when Fred Perry and Bunny Austin were leading the team. Great Britain is the only nation that has participated in all the editions of the Davis Cup from 1900, although it competed under the name British Isles until 1912.
