Great Britain will host France in July as it looks to reach the semifinals for the first time since 1981. Both nations have lifted the trophy on nine occasions and the Brits lead the head-to-head 11-9 but have not recorded a win over France since 1978.

Great Britain upset USA in the first round for the second straight year. Once again, James Ward was the British hero. Last year, he defeated Sam Querrey on the opening day, this year it was John Isner. Ward came back from 2 sets down to win 15-13 in the fifth. Andy Murray duly handed the Brits the other two points they needed to win.
Great Britain has lifted the Davis Cup trophy on nine occasions. Its last title dates back to 1936 when Fred Perry and Bunny Austin were leading the team. Great Britain is the only nation that has participated in all the editions of the Davis Cup from 1900, although it competed under the name British Isles until 1912.
