The defending champions continue their journey to another Davis Cup final as they beat Serbia in Belgrade 3-2. Although Great Britain was without Andy Murray, Kyle Edmund stepped up to deliver an amazing performance. Singles wins from Edmund and Dusan Lajovic left the series tied 1-1 going into day two. Doubles pair Jamie Murray and Dominic Inglot defeated Serbians Filip Krajinovic and Nenad Zimonjic giving Great Britain a 2-1 lead. Edmund provided the opportunity to secure the tie win for Great Britain delivered when he defeated Lajovic in a thrilling straight sets win securing a spot in the semifinals.
Great Britain has lifted the Davis Cup trophy on 10 occasions. In 2015 it ended a 79-year wait to secure its first triumph in the competition since 1936, when Fred Perry and Bunny Austin were leading the team. Great Britain is the only nation that has participated in all the editions of the Davis Cup from 1900, although it competed under the name British Isles until 1912.
