Next tie 16-18 September 2016
Germany will compete in a World Group play-off in September.
Last tie 4-6 March 2016
Germany lost out to a strong Czech Republic team in March, with Alexander Zverev's defeat to Lukas Rosol in the decisive rubber meaning the Germans must compete in a World Group play-off later this year. After two spectacular five-set matches on day one ended in one win apiece, Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek won the doubles to put the 2013 champions ahead. But Berdych was forced to retire due to injury in his matchup with Philipp Kohlschreiber in rubber four, giving Zverev the chance to steal the tie. But the teenager's enthusiasm was no match for Rosol's experience, the Czech No. 2 winning in three sets.
Germany have won the Davis Cup title on three occasions - in 1988, 1989 and 1993 - and currently lie in seventh place on the all-time list of champions. Until 1990, German players represented F.R. Germany.
