India host three-time winners and Davis Cup powerhouse Czech Republic to battle for a World Group place.
Last tie 17-19 July 2015
India recovered from a 2-1 deficit in New Zealand to win the final day's singles rubbers and earn a chance to get back into the World Group, from which they've been absent since 2011. Somdev Devvarman lost while Yuki Bhambri won on Friday before the New Zealand pair of Marcus Daniell and Artem Sitak defeated Rohan Bopanna and Saketh Myneni in the doubles. But Devvarman and Bhambri both triumphed in the reverse singles to set up a play-off tie in September for the Indians.
India has finished runner-up on three occasions, in 1966, 1974 and 1987, but is yet to lift the trophy. Only India, Romania and Argentina have contested more than one Final without being crowned champion. In the 1974 Eastern Zone Final, India and Australia established a record for the most number of games in a tie, 327.
