Last tie 5-7 April 2013
Japan was made to work hard for its victory over Korea but eventually ran out 3-2 winners. The hosts seemed in control when leading 2-0 after the first day but Korea took the doubles and Yong-Kyu Lim won the first of the reverse singles to send the tie to a deciding fifth rubber. It was Tatsuma Ito who stepped up for Japan, sending them through to the World Group play-offs.
