Korea, Republic will remain in Asia/Oceania Zone Group I for next year. Their first round opponents will be decided later on in the year.

Korea narrowly missed out on a World Group play-off place when they lost 3-2 to Japan. They started the tie badly, finding themselves 2-0 down after the first day's play, but fought back winning the doubles and the first of the reverse singles. However, they were unable to complete the comeback with Japan taking the deciding fifth rubber.
History
Korea played in the World Group in 1981, 1987 and 2008, but has never progressed past the first round. Korea's Young-Jun Kim was involved in the longest-known Davis Cup tiebreak to date against Pakistan's Aqeel Khan in 2003, the first set breaker lasted 36 points.
