With a place in the World Group play-offs at stake, the Koreans could not quite find the answers to a talented Indian team in Busan. Yong-Kyu Lim levelled the tie for Korea, defeating Sanam Singh after an earlier win for India's Somdev Devvarman, but India won the third and fourth rubbers, each in four sets, to seal the tie and its progress to the play-offs.
Korea played in the World Group in 1981, 1987 and 2008, but has never progressed past the first round. Korea's Young-Jun Kim was involved in the longest-known Davis Cup tiebreak to date against Pakistan's Aqeel Khan in 2003, the first set breaker lasted 36 points.
