Mexico were well beaten in Chile, with a five-set defeat in the opening rubber the closest that they got to challenging. The Chileans took control on the opening day, winning both singles matches, and then it was plain sailing from there. They didn't lose a set in the last four matches of tie to complete a 5-0 whitewash and earn a home tie with Venezuela for promotion to Americas Zone Group I. Mexico will go again in Zone Group II in 2016.
Mexico finished runner-up in 1962. In addition, it also reached the quarterfinals in 1986 and 1987.
