Last tie 18-20 September 2015
Pakistan's Aisam Qureshi won the deciding rubber to secure his side a thrilling 3-2 victory over Chinese Taipei. Aqeel Khan and Jimmy Wang made sure it was level pegging after day one, but Khan and Qureshi won the doubles in four sets to edge Pakistan ahead. Chieh-Fu Wang kept Chinese Taipei's hopes alive with a five-set victory in the fourth rubber, but Qureshi stepped up in the crucial fifth to clinch promotion for Pakistan.
Pakistan's best Davis Cup performance came in 2005, when it reached the World Group play-offs. It was also one step away from qualifying for the World Group when losing the 1984 Eastern Zone Final against Japan. Pakistan's Aqeel Khan was involved in the longest-known Davis Cup tiebreak against Korea's Young-Jun Kim in 2003 - the first set breaker lasted 36 points.
