Philippines will host Kuwait in the Asia/Oceania Zone Group II first round.
Last tie 17-19 July 2015
Philippines were well beaten 3-1 by Yen-Hsun Lu and Chinese Taipei, denying them a chance to play for promotion in the next round. Jui-Chen Hung and Lu dominated the first two singles rubbers to give the hosts a commanding lead. Doubles specialist Treat Huey and his partner Ruben Gonzales gave the visitors hope with a straight sets win in a tight doubles contest. But Lu wrapped up the victory for his side, with a 62 62 64 triumph over Gonzales in the fourth rubber.
Philippines was Eastern Zone champion in 1957, 1958, 1960 and 1964, but lost in the Inter Zonal semifinals on all four occasions. Philippines reached the World Group play-offs in 1991, although has never appeared in the competition's top tier.
