Poland will host Australia in its first ever World Group play-off with the knowledge that a victory will see it compete in the World Group for the first time in the nation's history.

Poland won its fifth straight Davis Cup tie after defeating South Africa 3-1 in their Europe/Africa Zone Group I second round tie. Captain Radoslaw Szymanik nominated Jerzy Janowicz, Lukasz Kubot, Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski for the third consecutive tie and that team eased to a comfortable victory, with Janowicz winning both his singles rubbers and the experienced doubles team of Fyrstenberg/Matkowski also easing to victory.
History
Poland first played Davis Cup in 1925 and is yet to contest the World Group. Its best performance is reaching the World Group play-offs in 2013.
