Next tie 15-17 July 2016
Romania take on five-time champions Spain in July with a place in the World Group play-offs at stake.
Last tie 4-6 March 2016
Romania bounced back from a disappointing defeat against Slovakia last year with a comprehensive win over Slovenia in March. Marius Copil defeated Blaz Rola in straight sets before Adrian Ungur recovered from two sets down to defeat Grega Zemlja and put the Romanians 2-0 up. The experienced pair of Horia Tecau and Florin Mergea then recorded a straight sets victory in the doubles to seal the tie within two days.
Romania finished runner-up three times - in 1969, 1971 and 1972 - and lost to USA in the Final on each occasion. Only Romania, Argentina and India have contested more than one Final without being crowned champion.
