Next tie 15-17 July 2016
Russia host Netherlands in the Europe/Africa Zone Group II second round, with a World Group play-off place on offer for the winners.
Last tie 4-6 March 2016
Russia eased to victory over Sweden in Kazan, dropping just one set across the whole tie. Wins for Andrey Kuznetsov and Teymuraz Gabashvili on day one left the Russians on the brink of victory, and Evgeny Donskoy and Konstantin Kravchuk duly delivered on the second day, beating the experienced Johan Brunstrom and Robert Lindstedt in the doubles to seal the tie.
Russia has won the title twice - in 2002 and 2006 - and finished runner-up on three further occasions. Until 1991, Russian players competed under the flag of USSR, and then CIS in 1992.
