Serbia were defeated 3-2 by Czech Republic in a hard-fought final in Belgrade. Novak Djokovic won both of his singles rubbers, but the Czech pairing of Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek were too strong for the Serbs in the doubles, and Stepanek was able to defeat Dusan Lajovic in the decisive fifth rubber to clinch victory for the Czechs.
Serbia won the Davis Cup title for the first time in 2010, defeating France 3-2 in the Final at Belgrade Arena. Serbia made its debut in the competition in 1995, competing as Yugoslavia between 1995 and 2003, and as Serbia & Montenegro between 2004 and 2006.
