The Serbians must travel to India as they attempt to maintain their presence in the World Group. Serbia recorded a 4-1 victory in Novi Sad when these two teams last met, a World Group first round tie in 2011.

Last year's Finalists were without the services of Novak Djokovic and fell to a 3-2 loss against Switzerland with Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka picking up the first two points on the opening day. Michael Lammer and Marco Chiudinelli then secured victory in the doubles before Dusan Lajovic and Filip Krajinovic restored pride for the hosts on the final day.
Serbia won the Davis Cup title for the first time in 2010, defeating France 3-2 in the Final at Belgrade Arena. Serbia made its debut in the competition in 1995, competing as Yugoslavia between 1995 and 2003, and as Serbia & Montenegro between 2004 and 2006.
