Next tie 4-6 March 2016
Sri Lanka won a Asia/Oceania Zone Group II relegation play-off for the fourth straight year and now play Thailand in 2016's opening round.
Last tie 17-19 July 2015
Harshana Godamanna was victorious over Giovani Samaha in straight sets in the deciding fifth rubber to lift Sri Lanka to a 3-2 triumph over Lebanon and retain their Asia/Oceania Zone Group II status for 2016. The tie's opening day belonged to the Sri Lankans, with Godamanna and Sharmal Dissanayake winning the first singles rubbers. But Lebanon hit back by winning an enthralling five-set doubles contest, before Hady Habib sent the tie to the final rubber in another match that went the distance. But Godamanna was far too strong in the fifth match, keeping Sri Lanka up but sending the Lebanese straight back down to Zone Group III after they came up in 2014.
Sri Lanka has reached the Asia/Oceania Zone Group II second round on six occasions, in 1995 and also between 1989 and 1992. Sri Lanka holds the record for the most decisive victory in a Davis Cup tie played over five rubbers, defeating Syria in 1991 for the loss of just six games.
