Next tie 12-14 September 2014
Ukraine's prize for defeating Sweden is a home World Group play-off tie against Belgium. The Ukrainians have never beaten Belgium before, and will hope to build on the good form they have shown so far this year as they attempt to reach the World Group for the first time.
Last tie 4-6 April 2014
After defeating Romania in the first round, the Ukrainians faced Sweden in a very entertaining tie in Malmo. Swedish doubles specialist Johan Brunstrom was involved in two incredible five set matches, going down 1311 to Sergiy Stakhovsky in the final set of the opening rubber, before combining with Robert Lindstedt to win 108 in the final set of the doubles. Ultimately though, Ukraine proved too strong in all of the singles rubbers, winning the tie 4-1.
Ukraine's best Davis Cup performance came in 2009, when reaching the World Group play-offs. As an independent nation, Ukraine first played in the competition in 1993.
