Next tie 2014
USA has featured in the World Group first round every year since 1989 and will return for another crack at the top tier in 2014.
Last tie 5-7 April 2013
USA suffered a quarterfinal defeat to Serbia at the Taco Bell Arena in Boise, Idaho in a tie that centred around the key doubles rubber. World No. 1 Novak Djokovic eased past John Isner in the opening rubber before Sam Querrey rallied to a five-set win over Viktor Troicki to draw the hosts level. Bob and Mike Bryan had been expected to put Jim Courier's men 2-1 ahead, but Nenad Zimonjic and Ilija Bozoljac stunned the twins by winning the fifth set of their encounter 15-13 to give Djokovic the chance to put Serbia into the semifinals with victory over Querrey. He duly delivered, albeit after suffering an injury scare when he went over on his ankle in the second game of the match, determinedly taking his country over the line with a 75 67(4) 61 60 triumph.
