Last tie 17-19 July 2015
Venezuela defeated El Salvador in a deciding fifth rubber to advance to a promotion play-off with Chile. The tie ended on a sad note as Rafael Arevalo had to retire, but he was trailing 06 16 at the time. The nations won a rubber apiece on the first day, before Luis David Martinez and David Souto claimed a tight doubles contest in straight sets to edge the hosts Venezuela ahead. Back came El Salvador though, as Marcelo Arevalo won the fourth rubber to make it 2-2. But Souto was firmly in control of the fifth match before Rafael Arevalo's retirement, giving the Venezuelans an opportunity to go back up to Zone Group I after a year's absence.
Venezuela reached the Americas Zone Group Final in 1960 and 1963, and, more recently, also reached the World Group play-offs in 1995 and 2002. Venezuela's Jorge Andrew was involved in the Davis Cup singles rubber containing most games, 100, when losing to Canada's Harry Fritz 1614 119 911 46 119 in 1982.
