Delayed start for Chile v Israel tie
The start of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group first round tie between Chile and Israel has been delayed by one day, so will now take place from Saturday to Monday (6-8 March).

The tie was originally scheduled to begin on Friday. However, transportation issues in the region following the recent earthquake resulted in the late arrival of players and officials.

Enjoy Tennis Center in Coquimbo, the venue for this weekend’s tie, has remained unaffected by the earthquake. Likewise, the local airport is also open.

The daily start times are now as follows:

> Saturday – 1100 hrs (GMT 1400 hrs)
> Sunday – 1400 hrs (GMT 1700 hrs)
> Monday – 1100 hrs (GMT 1400 hrs)

In memory of those who lost their lives in the earthquake, the ITF has asked for a minute’s silence to be observed at all eight World Group ties.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Chile,” said Francesco Ricci Bitti, ITF President.

“Dwight Davis founded Davis Cup to foster international understanding between nations through tennis. We hope that this tie will fulfil this aim and help to start the healing process for the nation.

“I would like to thank both teams for their willingness to play under these difficult circumstances. I would also like to praise the hard work by the many people who have made staging this tie possible.”

All three day tickets will now be valid for the new scheduled days of play on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Any one day tickets will be valid for a day later, for example, Friday becomes Saturday.
