Rolex is proud to be a sponsor of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas, becoming the Official Timekeeper of the premier team competition in men's tennis.
Rolex’s commitment to tennis started in 1978 when the luxury brand became the “Official Watch” of Wimbledon. This date marks the beginning of a privileged relationship between two partners driven by the same pursuit of excellence and prestige.
For Rolex, the association with Wimbledon has special importance, because it is the tournament of the greatest champions. In fact, only players who have won it several times have truly marked tennis history, such as Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Pete Sampras and today, Roger Federer.
Amongst its portfolio of sponsorship in tennis, Rolex supports the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, organised by the International Tennis Hall of Fame. This not-for-profit institution was set up in 1954 to preserve the history of the sport and to encourage its practice.
During this tournament, played every year in Newport on grass, the original tennis surface, players who have made tennis history are inducted into the Hall of Fame. John David Newcombe, a Rolex Ambassador for over 25 years, received this honour in 1986.
Rolex not only provides the timing for Davis Cup, but also supports some of the world’s top players. Former French Open Champion Justine Henin is proud to wear the Rolex watch as is the current Wimbledon Champion, Roger Federer. Other top players, including Andy Roddick, are ambassadors for Rolex.
Precision, skill and the pursuit of excellence have made Rolex and tennis perfect partners. Rolex expanded its commitment to tennis by joining the competition's family of sponsors as the Official Timekeeper of Davis Cup in 2007.
