Spain reached the Davis Cup final for the second straight year, defeating Israel in the semifinals winning its 17th straight tie at home and its 19th consecutive tie on clay.

Spain defeated Argentina to win its third Davis Cup title in 2008, the first it has won away from home. It defeated Australia in the 2000 Final and USA in the 2004 Final, in Spain on both occasions. In 2000, it played all its ties at home.
It also reached the final in 1965, 1967 and 2003, losing to Australia on all three occasions.
